Yakima SkyBox NX 16 Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2021 Volkswagen Atlas- Video
Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima SkyBox NX 16 Rooftop Cargo Box and how it fits on our 2021 Volkswagen Atlas. So with the Atlas, we have a decent amount of storage in the back, but maybe you're looking to get some longer or maybe some messier items, something like a golf bag, skis and snowboards, or just anything that you don't wanna keep inside your vehicle, you'd rather get it up on the roof and protect it at the same time, this is a great way to do that, so let's check out how it works. The box is able to fit up to 16 feet of cubic storage, or the way that we phrase it, is up to three people's worth of stuff, and it's going to add on, at its highest point, 16 inches of height onto your overall system. That's the number you gonna wanna keep in mind as far as, "Can I sore this in my garage Do I need to take it off when I'm not using it" Or if there might be any clearance issues elsewhere. Also, the box itself weighs 48 pounds, so factoring that in and keeping account of your crossbars, your feet, and your roof rating, in the case of the Atlas, we found that that number is 200, so we wanna make sure that with the box, everything we're loading up inside, we wanna keep it under that number. more

It's going to be a really nice, easy to use cargo box. I like that it's a more cost effective option, if you're looking to get a little bit more protection on top of your roof, versus something like a cargo basket, or a hitch-mounted cargo carrier. But it's going to lack a few features of some of the higher end ones, but I was actually pleasantly surprised when I took this one out. I hit some rain, and didn't have any issues with it.It's pretty easy to install. more

Malone Roof Box Review - 2014 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Volkswagen Passat, we're going to be test fitting the Malone Rooftop Cargo Box, and that's going to be part number MPG902.If we take a look at some of the features visible from standing right here, we're going to see that it has a very nice aerodynamic shape to it. So while it's installed in your traveling, it's going to cut down on wind noise and drag while it's up there, and your gas mileage shouldn't be affected too much.If we take a look from the front of the vehicle, we're going to see that it's a very narrow cargo box, and so while we have it pushed to the right side of our vehicle, we're going to see on the other side we could fit another accessory even on our smaller sedan. If you wanted to put a bike rack up there, you could choose to do that. You just want to be sure you double check the weight that you might have in your cargo box or on the other accessory and make sure that the roof rack and the vehicle roof can handle that weight.When we come to the back of the vehicle, we're going to see that even with our cargo box installed, we have no problem trying to access the trunk of our vehicle. You can see there's plenty of space, so you're going to have no problem right there. We're going to see we have four different points of contact where our cargo box is secured to the roof rack. more

Thule Roof Box Review - 2015 Volkswagen Golf- Video
Today in our 2015 Volkswagon Golf, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Force large rooftop cargo box, part number TH628. We already have it on top of our vehicle, however when you do lift this up, you want at least a second set of hands to help you put it into place, and you want to make sure that the quick-grip clamps are lined up with your crossbars. Since this cargo box can open from either side, you pretty much want to put it more towards the areas where you're going to be loading in things the most. For this instance, we have it closer to the passenger's side, but you can also put it more towards the driver's side. Or, you can center it up if you want to. With the box lined up pretty much where we want it to be, we'll go and get it open. First, you're going to need a key to get this to open. Turn it to the unlock position. more

Inno Roof Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we're test fitting the Inno Shadow Series Cargo Box in a gloss black finish, it has 13 cubic feet of space and it also has memory mount clamps. The part number for that is INBRA1250BK. Now, we're going to show you how we put these memory clamps on. First, we'll take a look at the clamps themselves. With this gray lever you tighten and loosen down the clamps there, and then they tighten down around your cross bars with that clamp there. They're a memory clamp so you don't have to measure out and keep screwing or unscrewing each time you put them on. We also have an anchor down spot for your straps that we have in the box. more

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI, where going to be doing a test fit of the Yakima RocketBox, this is going to be your Pro 14. It has 14 cubic feet of storage space on the inside of it and it comes in your black finish, with your sturdy plastic construction. We're going to go ahead and put it up on the vehicle and it's going to be part number Y07192. Actually, let me put it up the other way here, that way I can show you how to do it. All right, once you've got it to this point here, you're going to want to make sure that your feet and clamps are open here. Then we will simply sit it down and then we're going to slide it back and that will push those clamps up over where we want them to be, right there. Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI we will be doing a test fit of the Yakima RocketBox. This is going to be your Pro 11. It has 11 feet of cubic storage space on the inside, and it will be part number Y07193. We'll go ahead and turn it around and get it put up on the vehicle. Couple things I want to point out once we do get it up here, is that you're going to want to make sure that all your feet are opened up underneath. Once that you have it where you want it, go ahead and set it down. Then we'll adjust it by sliding it backwards. more

Now this box does feature the AccuTight mounting hardware, which will notify you when the clamps have been fully tightened when the knob starts to click. Today on our 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sport Wagon we'll be test fitting the Thule Force XXL rooftop cargo box with 21 cubic feet of space in AeroSkin black, part number TH626. With a Rhino Rack Vortex Aero roof rack system installed onto our roof we'll begin our test fit by placing the cargo box up onto the vehicle's crossbars. After positioning the clamps to fit over the bars, we can unlock the box and open the lid, exposing the two closest knobs. We'll then tighten down the knobs, which will bring the clamps tightly around the crossbars. Now this double-sided-opening lid will also enable you to easily load and unload your cargo from either side of the car. I'll move to the other side of the vehicle and repeat the same process. Once everything is all tightened and secured, that will complete today's test fit of the Thule Force XXL rooftop cargo box, part number TH626, on our 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sport Wagon. more

Today on our 2014 Volkswagen Passat, we'll be test fitting the Thule Pulse Large Rooftop Cargo Box with 16 cubic feet in matte black, part number TH615. With a Thule Rapid Traverse Roof Rack System installed onto our roof, we'll begin our test fit by placing the cargo box up onto the vehicle's load bars. Now, since this box only opens from one side, you'll need to position it on the passenger's side of your roof. With the box in place, we can unlock it and open the lid, exposing the four slots in the bottom of the box. We can take the clamps, slide them down through the slots over top of each bar, and then turn the knobs to tighten down the clamps. Once everything is all tightened down and secured, that'll complete today's test fit of the Thule Pulse Large, part number TH615, on our 2014 Volkswagen Passat. more

Today on our 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, we'll be test fitting the Thule Sonic Medium Rooftop Cargo Box with 13 cubic feet of space, glossy black in color, part number TH634B. With the Thule Rapid Traverse Roof Rack system on our vehicle, we'll begin our test fit by placing the box up onto our vehicle's load bars. After positioning the clamps to fit over each bar, we can unlock the box and open the lid, exposing the 2 closest knobs. We'll turn the knobs to tighten down the clamps up against each bar. You'll know when the clamp has been fully tightened down when the knob starts to click. We'll then move to the other side of the vehicle and repeat the same process. Now this double-sided opening lid will also enable you to easily load and unload your cargo from either side of the vehicle. more

Thule Pulse Large Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2014 Volkswagen Jetta- Video
Today on our 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, well be test fitting the Thule Pulse Large rooftop cargo box with 16 cubic feet of space, matte black in color, part number TH615. With the Thule Rapid Traverse Roof Rack System on our vehicle, well begin our test fit by placing the cargo box up on to the passenger side of our roof. Now this box does only open from one side, so youll need to position it on the passenger side of your vehicle. With the box in position, we can unlock it, and open the lid exposing the four slots in the bottom of the box. We can take the clamps, slide them down through the slots over top of each bar, and tighten down the knob to secure the clamps to the bar. Once everything is all tightened down and secured, that will complete todays test fit for the Thule Pulse Large part number TH615 on our 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. more

With the Thule Rapid Traverse Rack system already in place, we'll begin our test fit by placing the Cargo Box on top of our roof rack. Next we'll open up our box, insert the foot hooks into the slots, then tighten them down with a quick turn of the knob. With our Cargo Box in place and our clamps locked down, we're good to go. Since our box only opens from one side we're going to put it on the passenger side. We'll open up our box, place our feet through the slots, then we'll go back and secure them in place with a quick turn of the knob. The box only opens on one side, so this will be the best. Next, well grab our feet, place them through the slots making sure they go around each bar, then well tighten them each down with a quick turn on the knob. With the feet tight, were good to go. more

Rhino-Rack Master-Fit Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2013 Volkswagen CC- Video
Today on our 2013 Volkswagen CC, we will be test fitting the Rhino Rack Master-Fit Rooftop Cargo Box with 14 cubic feet in silver, part number RMF400. With the Thule Rapid Traverse Rack system already in place, we'll grab our cargo box, set it on to the top of our rack, we'll center it up, next we'll open our box. We'll grab our foot hooks, slide them through the slots and secure them in place by turning them to the right. Now that this side is done we'll repeat the process on the other side. With our cargo box in place and our feet tightened down, we're good to go. Today on our 2013 Volkswagen CC we'll be test fitting the Thule Sonic Medium roof top cargo box with 13 cubic feet of storage space in glossy black, part #TH634B. With our Thule rapid traverse rack system already in place, we'll grab our cargo box and place it onto the rack. We find it easiest to place the box at an angle. That way you can adjust the clamps to the right position. Once the clamps are in position, you'll slide your box onto the rest of the rack. With the box in place, we'll open it up, tighten our clamps down until you hear the click. more
